At James Fowler Physical Therapy we understand that the experience of carrying a child is unique for each woman and for every pregnancy. That is why at JFPT we treat each patient with personally tailored preconception, prenatal, and postpartum care.

Our Prenatal and Postpartum Care Program is here for you during all of the stages of your peripartum process. This program was founded to help guide you as you: prepare your body for pregnancy during preconception, manage discomforts and keep you safely active during pregnancy, prepare for the labor and delivery process, and recover during postpartum and beyond. We are excited to offer physical therapy, yoga, massage, and more to optimize your childbearing experience throughout every phase.

Postpartum (6 weeks or more)

  • Diastasis recti treatments 
  • Pelvic floor treatments:
    • Pain with intercourse, defecation, and/or urination
    • Prolapse/heaviness
    • Urinary/fecal incontinence

Meet Your Prenatal and Postpartum Care Physical Therapist: Dr. Stephanie Athanas PT, DPT, RYT®

Dr. Stephanie Athanas, PT, DPT, RYT® combines her Doctor of Physical Therapy skill set with over 10 years of yoga instruction experience, creating an ideal environment to address each person as a whole with a functional and relational mindset. Her love of family and motherhood has led her to the niche of helping mothers find comfort and confidence throughout their prenatal and postpartum life stages. Stephanie's strong desire for the American health system to amplify preventative care motivated her to go one step further and establish preconception physical therapy, which assists in preparing a woman's body for the various changes that occur with childbearing.
