At James Fowler Physical Therapy, we know your experience with neurological disease or injury is unique to you. That is why we begin your care with an hour-long assessment by a skilled physical therapist (PT).
James Fowler Physical Therapy's Neurological Physical Therapy Program is a specialized physical therapy program focused on helping you maintain or regain your mobility after neurological events and diseases. On your first day of therapy you will be examined by a physical therapist to determine your level of motor control, sensation, coordination, balance, walking, and more. The physical therapist will then develop a specialized program based on your needs to help you achieve your mobility goals. Throughout your program you will work with your therapist as well as experienced athletic trainers during PT sessions at the James Fowler Physical Therapy clinic.
The clinic includes private treatment rooms, a calming atmosphere, and all the equipment needed to help you in your journey with neurological injury or disease.

People with many different impairments and diseases can benefit from neuro-rehabilitation including those living with:
Physical therapy is an important part of managing the symptoms of Parkinson's disease (PD), whether you were diagnosed recently or have been living with the disease for many years. Research has shown that through exercise, we can retrain the part of the brain affected by Parkinson's disease to better control our movement. The physical therapists at James Fowler Physical Therapy are experts in movement rehabilitation for people with PD. They will create a comprehensive plan to help you improve your movement so you can achieve your personal mobility goals.
Your JFPT Parkinson's Program will include:
Deep Brain Stimulation (DBS) is a treatment option for Parkinson's disease chosen through careful consideration by a person with PD and their neurologist. This treatment involves minimally invasive brain surgery during which a neurosurgeon places the deep brain stimulator into the brain and small batteries at the front of the chest wall. Afterward, your neurologist will adjust the settings of the stimulator to best improve your movement. After the surgery, you may feel some surgical pain and fatigue. In addition, it will take some practice to get used to your new movement control. Seeing a physical therapist after your DBS placement will help your surgical recovery and acclimation to the new motor control you experience with your DBS.
