After years of professional experience as a physical therapist, James Fowler and his wife Judy, a certified movement analyst, opened their family practice, which artfully blends together the physical therapy and movement disciplines. On October 4, 2002, James Fowler officially established a home for his growing private practice in an enthralling 3,000 square foot loft in the heart of Manhattan, Union Square, designed by renowned architect Daryl Wugalter. Since their official opening, James Fowler Physical Therapy has established an exceptional reputation in the New York City area through their commitment to individual attention and customized treatment.

With over 20 years of experience in Sports Medicine and Movement Science, James Fowler has been owner of his own practice since 2001. He graduated from the University of California, Berkeley, in 1988 with a Bachelor of Science in Exercise Science and Physical Education. In 1994, after coming to New York, he earned a degree in Physical Therapy from the Steinhardt School of Education at New York University. He is certified in Active Release Techniques and has advanced training and hands-on experience in Spinal Manipulation and Myofascial Release Techniques. He is a certified Exercise Specialist by the American College of Sports Medicine and is a member of the American Physical Therapy Association.
Before opening his practice, James spent seven years at Beth Israel Medical Center, specializing in orthopedics and sports medicine. While at Beth Israel, he coordinated the Motion Analysis Laboratory, developed an evaluative tool for the analysis of running, golfing, and throwing, and was featured on the CBS Morning News Program describing “Motion Analysis for Golfers.”James was also the official physical therapist for the New York Knicks and New York Liberty Basketball teams, providing rehabilitation and movement analysis for performance enhancement. While at Berkeley, he was a Division I Middle Distance Runner and moved in the role of Assistant Coach under Erv Hunt, the future 96 Olympic Track and Field coach, making James especially attuned to the needs of athletes.
In addition to his dedication to his private practice, James developed an innovative program for children, KIDSMOVE, to teach sports in a positive environment. James also developed “The James Approach”, a movement re-education program for high level amateur and professional golfers to improve swing efficiency and body awareness.
Noriko graduated from the Swedish institute and has over six years of experience as a trained masseuse. She specializes in deep tissue massage, sports massage and medical massage. She has developed an original technique that is unique and customizes her approach for each individual client’s needs and history.
Christian DeLuna Zuno is a New York based dancer, teacher and freelance choreographer, who has performed across the United States as a member of Colorado Springs Dance Theater, Seventh Project, and Ballet Hispanico’s second company (BHdos). He has been featured in adds for Dance Magazine and Dance Spirit Magazine, as well as performed in several commercial productions including an appearance in the TV program Extreme Makeover: Home Edition (2010).
Christian recently graduated from NYU’s Tisch School of the Arts with a degree in Dance Performance and Choreography, which he completed under a full ride scholarship by the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation. He trained in injury prevention for dancers, the Feldenkrais Method and Irene Dowd’s Ideokinetic/Neuromuscular facilitation. Christian is a Gates Millennium Scholar, Tisch Dean Scholar and Honors Graduate from NYU. He continues to explore the art of dance and movement as a trainer for human wellness

Judy Fowler is a Vodder International Certified Manual Lymph Drainage practitioner, a Certified Movement Analyst trained at the Laban/Bartenieff Institute of Movement Studies in New York City, and a licensed massage therapist from the Swedish Institute of Massage Therapy, New York City. Originally trained as a modern dancer, Ms. Fowler has over 25 years experience in fitness, manual therapy, and movement science.
She currently uses lymphatic drainage to treat pre- and post-op patients, lymphedema and other edema/lymphatic challenges. Her background includes designing movement based sequences for runners, golfers, neurological patients, and post-mastectomy patients, as well as coaching proper techniques for functional strength training.
Aimee Leona Fries
A native of South Texas, Aimee holds a BFA in dance from New York University’s Tisch School of the Arts. In May 2017, she completed Columbia University’s Post Baccalaureate Pre-Health program, and is currently in the process of applying to physical therapy schools in the Tri-state area. Additionally, Aimee will be finishing her second year of training with the Perri Institute to become a certified yoga instructor in June 2017. She is excited about the opportunity to use her movement based background to inform her current work, while learning from and working with the Physical Therapists and Trainers at James Fowler PT.
MHA, Practice Administrator / Compliance Officer
Robert attended University of Maryland, College Park and earned his Bachelor of Science degree in Marketing with a minor in Psychology in 1997. He then matriculated through Seton Hall University and earned a Master’s in Health Care Administration in 2008.
Robert has worked in prestigious health care facilities such as Robert Wood Johnson/University of Medicine and Dentistry of New Jersey. He has over a decade of managerial experience and provides administrative and operational leadership. Robert ensures quality and his level of service exceeds patient expectations. He is currently a member of the American College of Healthcare Executives and the Healthcare Financial Management Association.
